The Woman in Green' (1945) is based on Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes novel 'The Adventure of the Empty House', where Holmes (Basil Rathbone) and Watson (Nigel Bruce) bring their wits to bear against a killer who is murdering young women and taking their forefingers as a grisly trophy. While the police suspect a deranged murderer, Holmes suspects the involvement of his arch-nemesis Professor Moriarty. In 'Young and Innocent' (1937) Alfred Hitchcock directs Derrick de Marney as Robert Tisdall, a man who finds himself wrongly accused of murder and who goes on the run to prove his innocence. 'The Man Who Knew Too Much' (1934) is another Hitchcock thriller starring Leslie Banks and Edna Best as Bob and Jill Lawrence, a couple who befried jovial Frenchman Louis Bernard (Pierre Fresnay) whilst holidaying in Switzerland. Soon afterwards Bernard is murdered, but not before passing on a secret that has Bob Lawrence desperately attempting to foil an assassination.
 In 'My Favourite Brunette' (1947) Ronnie Jackson (Bob Hope) is a photographer who aspires to the life of the private detective working in the office next door. Following a case of mistaken identity he gets the chance for some real sleuthing after he is employed to find the missing Baron Montay. Immediately out of his depth, the wise-cracking Ronnie is joined by Carlotta Montay (Dorothy Lamour), the Baron's niece, as he tries to track down the missing aristocrat. 'The Road to Hollywood' (1946) is a compilation of clips taken from Bing Crosby's early musical comedies from the 1930s, put together by low-budget film-maker Bud Pollard. 'Suddenly' (1954) is a gritty Cold War thriller where Frank Sinatra plays John Baron, a disillusioned war veteran who takes a family hostage while he waits for a chance to assassinate the President. Knowing that the President's cortege is due to pass by their house on a planned visit to the city, Baron has hired a group of professional killers to carry out the hit. At the same time, the terrified family must work together to try and foil the assassination attempt.
