1966 Corgi 325 Ford Mustang Fastback 2 + 2 Competition Model
1966 Corgi 325 Ford Mustang Fastback 2 + 2 Competition Model - This model was available between 1966 and 1968. This example still has some of its original decals, but the paintwork and the whole car have play wear.
Mustang, number 320, which was launched in April 1965, this new motor racing version was in the shops just in time for Christmas. Both models were given a host of features such as opening doors and tilting seats – all very innovative for the time. With a sleek white body and twin red bonnet stripes, this new racing model sensibly omitted the previous version’s small plastic corgi dog on the parcel shelf.
Eagle-eyed enthusiasts will also have noted that the tiny AA badge on the rear of the older model was deleted for this new version – a laudable attention to detail that goes a long way to explaining Corgi’s enduring popularity.
